1. The product
Hushmark helps identify and redact potentially sensitive information in PDF, DOCX, TXT, and HTML documents. It runs detection locally and provides review and export tools. Hushmark is a review aid, not a guarantee that every sensitive item will be found or removed.
2. Your responsibility
You must review every detection, manual blackout, and exported file before sharing or relying on it. You are responsible for selecting the redactions, checking the finished document, keeping backups, and deciding whether the result satisfies your legal, security, contractual, or professional obligations.
3. Permitted use
You may use Hushmark only with documents you own or are authorized to process. You may not use the product to violate law, invade another person's privacy, conceal unlawful activity, distribute malicious content, interfere with the service, or reverse engineer restricted portions of the product except where applicable law expressly permits it.
4. No professional advice or compliance certification
Hushmark does not provide legal, medical, financial, security, or compliance advice. Use of the product does not make a document, workflow, or organization compliant with HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, PCI DSS, or any other rule or standard. Seek qualified advice when your use carries regulatory or professional risk.
5. Local processing and exports
The product is designed to process document contents on your device. You control the source files and the copies you save. Export behavior can vary by file type, browser, operating system, and document structure. Keep the original until you have verified the exported copy.
6. Software and intellectual property
Hushmark and its original interface, code, and branding are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Third-party libraries and model assets remain subject to their own licenses and notices. These terms give you permission to use the product, not ownership of the product or its components.
7. Mac app purchases
The price, currency, taxes, and available payment methods are shown at checkout. A completed one-time purchase gives you a personal, non-transferable license to install and use the purchased version of the Hushmark Mac app. Payment processing is provided by Stripe. Refund rights required by applicable law are not limited by these terms; other refund requests can be submitted through the Hushmark contact form.
8. Availability and changes
The operator may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. Browser compatibility, local model performance, and output quality may vary. The product may be unavailable during maintenance or because of events outside the operator's control.
9. Disclaimer
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hushmark is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, or uninterrupted operation. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, disclosure of information, or claims arising from a missed or incorrect redaction. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid to use Hushmark during the six months before the event giving rise to the claim or 25 US dollars.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of California, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in Santa Clara County, California will have exclusive jurisdiction, unless applicable consumer law requires a different forum.
12. Changes and contact
The operator may update these terms by publishing a revised version and changing the effective date. Questions can be sent through the Hushmark contact form.
Hushmark reduces risk, but careful human review is still required before you share a document.
